Quiet Please! Many residents and drivers have noticed the reduction in noise caused by the new quiet surfaces on parts of the M3.
After many years of campaigning against road noise, this is good news, but it's only the beginning. In many cases only one or two of the three lanes on the motorway have been resurfaced, and many areas have been left untouched.
The latest government noise maps recognise that motorway road noise through Eastleigh and Chandler's Ford and around north-east Winchester, and on the southern end of the A34, is amongst the worst in the country.
We want action to fix this with quiet surfaces across all the lanes of the motorways and, if necessary, noise barriers in the affected areas.
Please back our petition calling on the Government and the Highways Agency to need to finish the job and resurface the roads whose noise is blighting local people's lifes.
